Birth of sis in progress

Updated: Mar 22, 2021

Sis in Progress was born in the heart of its founder years before it actually became

a tangible organisation.

Years ago, God sparked the idea of a specific ministry for women in the heart of

Laufofoga. However, this young lady did not act upon the nudging in her heart for

quite some time after it was there. She did not see herself in this role of

leadership. Laufofoga had no confidence in her abilities. English was a second

language for her, and she was unable to see herself as a public speaker. Being a

trainer and a coach were other areas that felt out of her realm of future

possibilities.

Even so, the Lord’s prompting felt within Laufofoga came from Habakkuk 2:2-3,

which says, “And the Lord answered me: “Write the vision; make it plain on

tablets, so he may run who reads it. For still the vision awaits its appointed

time; it hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will

surely come; it will not delay.” During her time of dismissing this particular

calling in her life, Laufofoga decided to write the vision down anyway.

As the years continued to pass, Laufofoga noticed that her life was moving in the

same direction as the idea that had been born within years ago. She found

herself working with women and running workshops. Public speaking and

networking also became part of the responsibilities of Laufofoga. She then

realised another important factor that was happening in her life: Laufofoga’s

passion for helping women took root and began to grow.

As time continued, Laufofoga became a Christian woman’s life coach. All that had

spoken to her years ago was coming to fruition. But then, life got in the way.

Laufofoga’s home became a place where trials and challenges were unavoidable.

It was a time that she has needed her prayer closet more than ever, struggling

through a particularly difficult stage with one of her teenage children. During this

time, discouragement grew and passion for her calling and ministry ceased.

It was during this time that a word from the Lord was impressed upon Laufofoga’s

heart: SIP.

SIP, an acronym for Sis in Progress, has become an anchor word for Laufofoga when

times are especially trying with her teen. When contention is high and she can

feel her emotions rising, Laufofoga can hear the whisper of God reminding her of

SIP, which helps her to remain silent. The Lord brought to her remembrance

Philippians 1:6: “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you

will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” It was through this verse

that Sis in Progress was born.

The vision that Laufofoga had written down years ago had finally reached its

destination of readiness and implementation. The previous years of learning and

growing had become the perfect tools for Sis in Progress becoming a successful

and effective ministry.

As Laufofoga has met many women during her times of public speaking and

coaching, she has discovered there is a common bond in the desires of so many.

However, she has also realised the lack of knowledge for those who want to move

forward and beyond the things that are hindering their growth. Many times it is

simply not knowing what to do, feeling stuck.

Because of the need, and because of her own passion and calling, Laufofoga has

gathered a team for her not-for-profit ministry. Those at SIP are anxious to share

the dreams, visions and hard work of those who join them on this worthwhile

journey.
